Run for Pizza 5k: Seaside Heights
Summer might be over, but you wouldn't know it this morning at the Second Annual Run for Pizza 5k: Seaside Heights. The event brought runners, walkers, pizza lovers, and costumed participants to the Jersey Shore on Saturday morning for a unique blend of fitness and fun. Held along the scenic Seaside Heights Boardwalk, the event featured a flat, fast course, professional chip timing, a festive atmosphere, and a finish-line pizza party that rewarded participants with slices from local pizzerias.
Race day activities began with packet pickup and sponsor festivities before participants were called to the start line for the 10:30 a.m. race start. Following the National Anthem, runners headed out onto the boardwalk course, taking advantage of ideal conditions on a route designed to appeal to both competitive racers and casual participants. Professionally chip-timed by Rock Race Timing, the event attracted a mix of seasoned competitors chasing fast times and families looking to enjoy a memorable fall morning at the shore. In keeping with the race's lighthearted theme, participants also had the chance to compete in the popular Best Dressed Pizza-Themed Costume contest.

The Overall Race was won by Andy Bonner, crossing the line in 20:03, just ahead of Henry Chin. Leading the women was Ashleigh Lesko, who took the Female category in 22:18 (16th overall). After crossing the finish line, athletes gathered for the race's signature Finish Line Festival & Pizza Party, where participants celebrated their accomplishment with pizza, music, and post-race camaraderie. The combination of a waterfront 5K, community atmosphere, and post-race food once again proved to be a winning formula for organizers and runners alike.
Hosted at the Dupont Avenue entrance of the Seaside Heights Boardwalk, the race continues to establish itself as one of the area's most distinctive themed running events, offering participants a memorable race experience that is equal parts competition and celebration.
