The PIP Spring Sprint 5K returned to Secaucus High School on Sunday, April 26, 2026, bringing runners, walkers, families, and community supporters together for a meaningful morning of competition and purpose.
Hosted by Partners in Prevention, the Spring Sprint served as a fundraiser in support of the organization’s mission to improve wellness and prevent substance use disorders and related health challenges throughout Hudson County and New Jersey. Proceeds from the race benefit Partners in Prevention’s wide-ranging initiatives, including its Education Programs, which promote community health awareness; the Hudson County Coalition, a network of volunteers and professionals focused on reducing youth substance abuse through policy change, information sharing, and advocacy; and the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute, which empowers young people to develop leadership skills and create positive change in their schools and communities.

Runners were greeted by cool temperatures and brisk winds, conditions that made pacing a challenge but also contributed to a crisp, energetic race atmosphere. Despite the blustery weather, the field pushed the pace from the start.
Channing Jervis claimed the overall victory, crossing the line in 20:15 after a strong and steady effort over the 5K course. On the women’s side, Shishaldin Simone Hanlen earned top honors with a finishing time of 22:16, narrowly edging Cecilia Luk by just 10 seconds in one of the closest finishes of the day.
As runners and walkers finished, they were met with encouragement from volunteers and fellow participants, underscoring the community-focused spirit that defines the Spring Sprint. The event once again demonstrated how athletics can serve as a powerful platform for advocacy, education, and positive social change.
With strong performances at the front of the pack and broad support across all ages and abilities, the 2026 PIP Spring Sprint 5K successfully combined competition, compassion, and community—furthering Partners in Prevention’s commitment to building a healthier future for Hudson County and beyond.
