The inaugural Spring in Your Step 5K delivered exciting racing and ideal conditions on a cool spring morning at Scarsdale High School. With temperatures sitting comfortably in the 40s, runners were treated to nearly perfect racing weather and took full advantage with several strong performances across the field.
Leading the way overall was Emma Helman, who claimed victory in dramatic fashion with a winning time of 22:46. Helman battled stride-for-stride with Samantha Friedland throughout the race before pulling away late to secure the overall title by just four seconds. Friedland crossed the line second overall in 22:50 after a strong effort of her own.

The top male finisher was Ben Horn, who placed fifth overall and broke the 25-minute barrier with a time of 24:59. Horn paced the men’s field from the start and finished with a strong closing effort.
The first edition of the Spring in Your Step 5K proved to be a successful debut, combining competitive racing, strong community participation, and excellent weather conditions. With a close battle for the overall win and a growing field of runners, the event appears poised to become a spring tradition in the years ahead.
