The 2026 YCFL Color Run – “Think Green, Run Clean” brought energy, color, and community spirit to Fort Lee on Saturday, May 2, as runners of all ages gathered at the Fort Lee Community Center for a morning that blended competition with celebration.
A Colorful Start to the Day
The day’s events kicked off with a 1-mile fun run before attention turned to the featured 5K, which began at 10:45 AM. Hosted by the Youth Council of Fort Lee in partnership with local organizations, the event emphasized environmental sustainability while creating a welcoming, festive atmosphere for participants.
Runners lined up amid music, bright shirts, and bursts of color powder, setting the tone for a race that was as much about enjoyment and community as it was about performance. With participants ranging from competitive racers to families and walkers, the course buzzed with excitement from start to finish.

The Race Up Front
When the 5K began, the front pack quickly separated itself as the pace surged early. Skyler Kim emerged as the standout performer of the day, putting together a strong, controlled effort to claim the overall victory in 18:41. His performance led the field from start to finish and showcased the fast potential of the course.
On the women’s side, Mabel Leon delivered one of the most impressive performances of the morning. She not only secured the female overall title, but her time of 25:17 placed her 4th overall, highlighting her strength against the entire field and making her one of the top finishers of the race regardless of gender.
More Than Just a Race
While the competitive results told one part of the story, the heart of the YCFL Color Run was rooted in its mission. Organized to promote environmental awareness and community engagement, the event brought together local partners including the Borough of Fort Lee and major sponsors to support sustainability initiatives.
Participants were treated to a lively race-day experience that included music, pre-race festivities, and, of course, the colorful powder stations that define a classic color run. Everyone—from serious runners to casual participants—crossed the finish line covered in vibrant hues, symbolizing the fun-first spirit of the event.
