On a picture-perfect fall morning, the 2024 Ringwood PBA 5k brought runners of all ages to E. G. Hewitt Middle School in Ringwood, NJ. With temperatures in the low 60s and plenty of sunshine, it was ideal weather for both racing and community gathering.
The event kicked off with a heartwarming Kiddie Dash, where future runners dashed with enthusiasm to the cheers of the crowd. This set the tone for the main event: the 5k race, which followed a scenic route down Sloatsburg Road, turning onto Greenwood Lake Turnpike before heading back to Hewitt School.
In the men's race, Bryce Leslie delivered a commanding performance, taking the overall victory. Jack Gibson, who finished strong, followed close behind in second place. On the women's side, the competition was fierce, coming down to a thrilling final sprint. Elizabeth Clifton edged out Heidi Krukis in a photo-finish moment, with both athletes crossing the finish line within the same second, showcasing exceptional grit and determination.

The energy throughout the event was electric, with participants and spectators alike enjoying the camaraderie and spirit of giving back. All proceeds from the race benefitted Ringwood PBA Local 247, a non-profit group of dedicated Ringwood police officers. The funds raised will continue to support local charities, events, scholarships, and the PBA's community involvement initiatives.
A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers, organizers, and sponsors who made the event possible. The Ringwood PBA 5k continues to be a beloved tradition, uniting the community for a great cause while celebrating fitness, family, and fun. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
