Runners couldn’t have asked for better racing conditions at this year’s Old Tappan Superhero 5K, held at scenic Stone Point Park. With crisp autumn air and temperatures in the 50s, the morning set the stage for some fast times and plenty of smiles as the community came together to support a great cause — the emergency services of Old Tappan.
The field was led once again by Gary Lausin, who successfully defended his title with a strong performance, breaking the tape in 18:42. Lausin’s consistency on the course has made him a familiar face atop the leaderboard, and his win this year further cements his local legend status.
On the women’s side, Sadie Murphy delivered an outstanding run, taking the overall women’s title in a blazing 17:23. Her performance not only topped the women’s field but placed her among the top finishers overall — an impressive display of strength and speed on the rolling Old Tappan course.
Runners of all ages and abilities took part, many donning superhero costumes in the spirit of the event. Families, local clubs, and first responders joined in, making for a festive, community-driven morning celebrating fitness, fun, and civic pride.

With great weather, fast times, and generous community support, the 2025 Old Tappan Superhero 5K proved once again to be one of Bergen County’s standout fall races.
