Miller, Shaw and Team Weeks Marine Dominate at the 3rd Annual Salute to Our Veterans 5k

On November 9th, 2024, the Liberty State Park played host to the much-anticipated Salute to Our Veterans 5K, an event dedicated to supporting Veterans of the Armed Forces. Organized by Habitat for Humanity of Newark, this race not only honored those who served but also fostered community spirit among participants and spectators alike.
The day was characterized by brisk conditions, with high temperatures hovering in the mid-50s, creating a picturesque setting for an invigorating run through the park. Runners navigated the course, which wound gracefully along the scenic pathways, all while experiencing the camaraderie of fellow racers.
Rand Miller emerged as the standout athlete, dominating the field with an impressive finish time of 19:19, crossing the finish line two minutes ahead of his closest competitor. In the female category, Courtney Shaw took home the victory, finishing 7th overall with a commendable time of 22:46.
This year's race introduced a new element that added excitement to the competition—the corporate team race. Weeks Marine triumphed in a closely contested battle against Doka USA, securing victory with an aggregate team time of 1:14:54, narrowly surpassing Doka's time of 1:15:13.
The event was a resounding success, full of community support and appreciation for our Veterans. We thank all participants and sponsors for their unwavering commitment to this vital cause, and we look forward to continuing this cherished tradition in the years to come.
