The inaugural 5K at the Farm delivered a race experience unlike any other on Saturday, June 8th, as over 200 runners laced up for a scenic and spirited romp through the iconic apple orchards of Demarest Farms in Hillsdale, NJ. With rolling hills, off-road twists, and a festive atmosphere, this wasn't your typical road 5K—it was an off-the-beaten-path adventure blending competition, community, and celebration.

From the moment the runners set off, the course challenged them with its winding, uneven terrain—but also rewarded them with panoramic views of the orchard’s early summer bloom. Live rock music from local band Lost and Found added an electrifying soundtrack to the race, with speakers positioned throughout the route to keep the energy high.

Robert Faiges Jr. rose to the challenge and claimed the top spot, finishing in an impressive 20:13 on a course that tested even seasoned trail runners. Not far behind was Andrew Shyong, who secured second place. The women's race was equally competitive, with Erin Shyong breaking into the overall top five and earning the women's title in commanding fashion.

But the 5K at the Farm wasn’t just about speed—it was a full-day experience. From a central aid station keeping runners hydrated and energized, to family-friendly attractions like the petting zoo and kids’ play area, there was something for everyone. After the finish line, runners and spectators gathered for delicious post-race bites, live music, and well-earned toasts in the on-site biergarten.

With its blend of natural beauty, a challenging course, and festival-like fun, the first edition of 5K at the Farm set the bar high. It’s safe to say this event has quickly planted its roots as a can't-miss annual tradition.
