The Barnegat Fire Department Stop, Drop & Run 5K/10K returned to the Barnegat Municipal Dock on Saturday morning with picture-perfect late summer weather and a strong community turnout. More than 200 runners and walkers lined up to support the Barnegat Fire Department in this annual fundraiser. As tradition, the race was sent off in style with the blast of a fire engine horn.

On the men’s side, Ryan Geddes captured the overall title, moving up one spot from his runner-up finish in 2024. Geddes’ winning effort set the tone for a fast race at the front, as all of the top three men outpaced last year’s winning mark. The performance marked a milestone for Geddes, who has steadily improved year to year on the dockside course.

The women’s race belonged to Meagan Drapkin, who delivered a dominant performance. Drapkin crossed the line nearly two minutes clear of her nearest competitor and placed fourth overall in the combined field—a commanding display that left no doubt about her fitness and form.
With a festive post-race atmosphere, strong community support, and competitive fields in both races, the Stop, Drop & Run once again proved to be one of the shore’s standout summer events. Proceeds will go directly toward supporting the Barnegat Fire Department, ensuring that the community’s first responders remain equipped and ready to serve.
